How To Spend Two Days in The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is a destination that combines stunning coastal views, and vibrant Mediterranean culture. Ideally, we recommend spending at least one week in The Amalfi Coast to indulge in its beauty and enjoy its beach clubs and most iconic sights. We’ve put together a two-day Amalfi Coast itinerary, which includes visiting its two most famous regions, Amalfi and Positano.

In our 60+ page guide to The Amalfi Coast, we will guide you through the best the coast has to offer—from breathtaking beaches and glamorous beach clubs to the charming streets of Amalfi, the chic beauty of Positano, and the timeless elegance of Ravello, Conca dei Marini and Sorrento. We’ve also included over one hundred restaurant recommendations in The Amalfi Coast that are updated for 2025 travel. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or first-time visitor, this travel guide is perfect for visiting The Amalfi Coast.

For now, we’ll share our ideal two day itinerary for visiting The Amalfi Coast:

Day 1: Explore Amalfi

Start your Amalfi Coast adventure in Amalfi, the historic heart of the coast. Known for its dramatic cliffs, vibrant town square, and historic cathedral, Amalfi offers a perfect mix of culture and beauty.

In the Morning:

  • Visit Amalfi’s famous local bakery, Pasticceria Pansa: Begin your day with a pastry and coffee at this famous bakery in the center of Amalfi. You’ll have to try their chocolate covered candied lemon peels… they’re so delicious and such a unique treat to enjoy!
    • Location: Piazza Duomo, 40, 84011 Amalfi SA, Italy
  • Amalfi Cathedral (Duomo di Amalfi): Visit the stunning cathedral, a perfect example of medieval architecture. Don’t forget to explore the square and the nearby Amalfi Paper Museum.
    • Location: Piazza Duomo, 1, 84011 Amalfi SA, Italy

Late Morning & Afternoon:

  • Visit the beaches: We highly recommend visiting Spiaggia di Atrani, one of the most picturesque beaches in Amalfi. It’s not as crowded as Marina Grande, and it’s a beautiful spot to take pictures, sunbathe and watch the yachts sail by along The Amalfi Coast.
  • Hike the Path of Lemons: The Path of the Lemons starts in Minori, a small and picturesque village along the Amalfi Coast, known for its lemon production. To get there, you can take a bus or ferry from the larger towns on the Amalfi Coast, like Amalfi or Positano. We’ve provided the location of the Path of Lemons for you on the map, below:

  • Take a Cooking Class: Amalfi offers a variety of cooking classes hosted by its locals! This is such a fun and unique way to spend the afternoon in Amalfi. We highly recommend booking a homemade pasta-making class or a multi-course cooking class (like this one) where you’ll learn how to make several pasta dishes, including ravioli and gnocchi, as well as homemade Italian desserts.

Evening:

  • Dinner at “La Caravella”: Treat yourself to a Michelin-starred dining experience at La Caravella, offering a combination of fresh fish, local vegetables, and a contemporary twist on traditional Amalfi Coast dishes.
    • Location: Via Matteo Camera, 12, 84011 Amalfi SA, Italy

Day 2: Discover Positano & its Beaches

The next day, head to Positano, the picturesque town that graces every postcard of the Amalfi Coast. Known for its colorful buildings cascading down the cliffs, Positano is the ultimate Mediterranean dream.

In the Morning:

  • Book a Private Boat Tour from Positano: Book a private boat tour to explore the hidden coves, grottos, and crystal-clear waters along the Amalfi Coast. Depending on which boat tour you book, you’ll get to see some beaches and coves that can only be accessed by boat. Or, you can opt for the more famous spots to see in Positano, like the Li Galli islands or Fiordo di Furore.

We’ve linked below our two favorite boat tours from Positano (that we’ve booked ourselves) for an unforgettable experience sailing along The Amalfi Coast.

Afternoon:

  • Spend the day at one of Positano’s Beach Clubs: After your boat tour, unwind at one of Positano’s luxury beach clubs, like La Scogliera Beach Club or Arienzo Beach Club. For both of these beach clubs, you’ll need to make reservations for your chairs or daybeds at least three weeks in advance. These spots can fill up quickly during the busy summer months, so we recommend planning ahead. At either La Scogliera or Arienzo, you’ll get to enjoy chic lounge areas, cocktails, dedicated food and beverage service throughout the day, as well as showers and towels.
    • If you’re looking for an upbeat, party-like vibe, we recommend booking Arienzo Beach Club. Keep in mind that Arienzo can only be accessed by boat, so be sure to visit their website directly for booking information, as well as their boat shuttle for pick up and drop off.
    • If you’re looking for a more chill yet swanky ambience, we recommend booking La Scogliera Beach Club. La Scogliera Beach Club is located alongside Positano’s main beach, Spiaggia Grande and its access is blocked off from the main beach, offering exclusivity and privacy.

Evening:

  • Have Sunset Cocktails at Franco’s Bar: This cocktail bar next to Le Sirenuse Hotel in Positano has absolutely stunning views of The Amalfi Coast, especially during sunset. We love coming here for a limoncello spritz or aperol spritz before heading to dinner.
    • Location: Via Cristoforo Colombo, 30, 84017 Positano SA, Italy
  • Have Dinner at La Sponda at Le Sirenuse Hotel: After cocktails at Franco’s Bar, you can walk next door to La Sponda for an incredible dining experience with beautiful views of The Amalfi Coast. La Sponda is a very romantic spot, so we highly recommend coming to this restaurant if you’re celebrating a special occasion. In our Ultimate Restaurant Guide to The Amalfi Coast, La Sponda is one of our top choices for dining in Positano.
